IIEST, Shibpur (Erstwhile "Bengal Engineering College") ranks 27th in NIRF-2021 among Engineering Institutes. It is the first college to become Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST) in India in 2014. The Institute has a rich history. It is empowering the nation since 1856. Considering the year of establishment, it is the 3rd engineering college in India but considering the year of graduation it is the 2nd oldest engineering college in India.

A candidate who has been allotted a seat to an undergraduate programme of IIEST, Shibpur by the following authorities are eligible for admission in the academic year 2020-2021.
Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA 2020)
Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB 2020, Special Round)
CSAB-NEUT 2020 ? Direct Admission of Student Abroad (DASA 2020)
Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR)

The provisional admission will be conducted through online mode. ?
The candidates will be given time slot to appear before the Verifying Official during the Institute reporting as per the schedule of JoSAA 2020 / CSAB 2020 (special round).
The candidates will be asked to join through google meet. Link will be given later in the document.
The candidates will be asked to send all documents to a specific email ID before the online meeting.
A candidate should not leave the meeting until the verification and admission is completed.
The admission is provisional, since originals cannot be verified through online meeting.
Documents (self-attested scan copies) required at the time of admission:

3. Provisional admission letter issued by JoSAA 2020 and partial admission fee payment confirmation in 6
th round (to be downloaded in
the final round)
4. Medical fitness certificate as per JoSAA-2020 format
5. Class X Admit/Mark-sheets/Certificate (for age proof)
6. Class XII mark-sheet and certificate
7. Photo identity card (AADHAAR CARD/VOTER ID/PASSPORT/Driving License etc.)
8. SC/ST caste certificate (if applicable)
9. OBC-NCL certificate in JoSAA 2020 format as submitted during reporting (if applicable), issued on and after April 01, 2020

12. Family income certificate for Financial Year 2019-20, issued by the competent authority of the area where the candidate and/or his/her
family normally resides.
i. OBC-NCL and GEN-EWS must submit the family income certificate.
ii. To avail the tuition fee waiver as per GoI norms for IIEST Shibpur, submission of family income certificate at the time of
admission is mandatory. The candidates need to submit the income certificate each year to avail tuition fee waiver.
iii. Submission of family income certificate for SC/ST/PwD candidates is not mandatory.
13. Formal affidavit for anti-ragging by the student and parents (Format available on IIEST Website) on ten rupees Nonjudicial stamp

Placements for the academic year of 2019–2020 had been successful as 511 students got placed in 111 reputed companies with a good salary package.
Under the UG level, the institute offers placements under B.Tech, B.Arch, and Dual Degree programs. Although students from the B.Arch. program didn't bag any placement opportunities from the on-campus recruitment drive.
As for the PG program, the institute offers placements under M.Tech, M.Sc, and MBA programs.
A total of 810 students were selected as eligible students and participated in the final placement process held by the Institute, out of which 422 UG students, 21 Dual degree students, and over 68 PG students got placed under different sectors of the industry.
This year, the highest CTC stood at INR. 39 LPA which was offered to four students by Microsoft IDC. With regards to the Sector, the maximum number of job roles were provided under the Core Engineering Sector.
Some of the top recruiters who visited the IIEST campus during the 2020 placement drive include- PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Microsoft, TCS, Daikin, Vedanta, Wipro, Cognizant, Godrej, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, HSBC Technologies, and etc.
