Government Law College - [GLC], Mumbai was established in 1855. The college ranked #11 by NIRF. College provide L.L.B and PG Diploma of law program.
Government Law College or GLC, as it is popularly known, continues to be an institution exclusively for the students of law. In addition to the old building, the college now has an annexe building, September 1988 onwards, which houses additional class rooms and a reference library.
GLC, which has a rich heritage and pedigree, is the repository of erudition in the legal firmament and has had the privilege of guidance and tutelage under eminent legal luminaries such as Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, Lokmanya Tilak, Justice M. C. Chagla, Sir Motilal Setalvad (first Attorney General of India), Sir Dinshaw Mulla, Justice Y. V. Chandrachud, Mr. Nani Palkhivala and several others who have adorned benches of the Supreme Court of India and the Bombay High Court. The students who have passed out from the portals of GLC have distinguished themselves at the Bar, the Judiciary and the Academe. From these portals, have passed the likes of five Chief Justices of the Supreme Court of India, Ms.Pratibha Devisingh Patil, former President of India, and Mr. Lal Krishna Advani, former deputy Prime Minister of India. The College takes great pride in being the alma mater of India's most prominent Supreme Court and High Court judges who have pronounced the greatest of judgments and legal doctrines that revolutionised the legal environment. Most of the top notch Counsels and Legal Practitioners who virtually built and rule the entire paradigm of India's legal profession have also passed through the portals of this great institution.

GLC offers LL.B program of 3 and 5-year duration. Candidates seeking admission have to qualify the CET. Final admission will be granted on the basis of candidates’ performance in CET.
- 50% of seats are reserved for candidates from reserved categories from Maharashtra State as per the Government regulations.
- Candidates from Boards other than the Maharashtra State Board of Higher and Secondary Education are required to obtain 5% marks more than the candidates from the Maharashtra State Board in order to be considered for admission.
Candidates seeking admission in Diploma courses should obtain and fill admission form available at the college office or at the official website of the college. List of the selected candidates for the admissions based on merit will be displayed on the notice board of the college or college website.
GLC, Mumbai Application Process 2021:
Candidates can apply for CET by following the below-mentioned steps:
- Candidates can apply online by visiting the official website of the GLC, Mumbai.
- Application form fees for CET is INR 800 (INR 400 for reserved categories).
- Admission form is also available at the college campus.
- The duly filled application form should be submitted to the college within the prescribed time.
Following documents are required to be attached with the application form:
- Scorecard of CET
- The original statement of marks with an attested copy.
- Original Caste Certificate by students intending to avail benefits of reservation.
- Passing certificate and certified copy of document indicating the date of birth, for example, school leaving certificate.
- Two recent passport size photographs
- In the case of a student migrating from another University, a Provincial Eligibility Certificate issued by Mumbai University will be required.
- Application for the certificate is to be made to the Registrar of Mumbai University in the prescribed form along with the fees.
- In the case of a student passing out from a college affiliated to the Mumbai University, a Transfer Certificate (T.C.) from that college will be required. The application for the T.C. should be sent to college in the prescribed form.
- Foreign students seeking admission should produce their passport and student visa at the time of admission. Those holding a tourist visa or entry visa will not be considered.
Note: Candidates from outside Maharashtra with a degree from universities located in states other than Maharashtra belonging to any category will be considered as an open category.
